Welcome to Weekend Poetry readings, where we try to find the best poetry read by the poets themselves.

This week, we’re going to share some Kerouac. We love Jack around here, and for very good reason. He is one of the most important poets of the 20th Century. The whole beat generation that he helped to kickstart has influenced the course of poetry since, and we see a lot of young poets trying to emulate his work, which can only be a good thing we find.

The jazz stylings of his readings really add a depth and dimension to his poetry, and we invite you to take a few minutes out of your day to immerse yourself in his words.

Leave your thoughts below on this piece, and follow us for more new poetry and news of what is going on in our corner of the literary world. We also have Facebook and Twitter, and we’d love to see you there. Until tomorrow, then.
