Hi all. Welcome to our regular Sunday afternoon feature, where we find the best poetry reading by the author themselves.

It’s been a bit of a hectic week for us here, quite a few things happening at the moment which we will let you know about soon enough, but for now, let’s sit back and bask in the words of Wynstan Hugh Auden. A response to the ekphrasis in Homer’s epic The Iliad about Achille’s shield, Auden bought it up to date with scenes from everyday life. Truly a modern classic of poetry by one of our favourite poets. So, we would like to share Audens words with you all.

Leave your thoughts below on this piece, and follow us for more new poetry and news of what is going on in our world.
