Jacques Prévert by Izis

Jacques Prévert by Izis

after the rat race
chasing clouds and field mouses
on the Butte Montmartre

the Leica clicks
the right scene at the right time
no doubt in his mind

caress and murmur
the cat is asking for more
like the rest of us

Today’s featured poem comes from Virginie Colline.

This is a collection of 3 haiku that capture a moment in time. Using that most familiar of creatures to many of us, the cat, as the protagonist, the essence of Parisian life is captured and presented to the reader to bask in. Reminiscent of long, hot evenings pulsing with life, music, wine and artistic sentiment, this collection presents a moment in time which is as familiar as it is unusual. Captivating. A great piece, we’re sure you’ll agree.

Virginie is a French translator living in Paris. Her poems have appeared in The Scrambler, Notes from the Gean, Prune Juice, Frostwriting, Prick of the Spindle, The Orris, Mouse Tales Press, StepAway Magazine, The Indian Review, BRICKrhetoric, Seltzer, Mad Swirl, Overpass Books and Yes, Poetry, among others.

Leave your thoughts below on this piece, and share and follow us for more news and poetry. And as a quick reminder for our regular visitors, we are currently editing a collection of Haiku and Western Haiku, for release soon.
